Five hands-on hobbies you can start this weekend

Starting a new hobby doesn't have to mean a big investment or a steep learning curve. Here are five crafts that are easy to start with just a few supplies, and fun to keep growing with.

1. Crochet

2. Loom bands

3. Friendship bracelets

4. Watercolor

A basic pan set, one round brush, and some watercolor paper. Try painting simple shapes and letting colors blend. The happy accidents are half the fun.

5. Simple woodworking

Sandpaper, wood glue, and some pre-cut pieces make great first projects: a birdhouse, a pencil holder, or a small shelf. Always use tools with care, and with supervision for younger makers.
